Every growing travel business knows that moment.
A new consultant has just joined the team; a client wants a proposal by Friday; the one person who knows how co-branding works is on leave. Possibly on a beach. Definitely not checking email.
Painfully familiar? Most teams learn their itinerary software the way you learn the coffee machine in a new office; by asking whoever’s nearest and nodding along as they walk. It works, right up until a proposal goes out with the wrong logo on it (or if the go-to person leaves your company).
The Wetu Academy is Wetu’s online training hub, where tour operators, DMCs, and travel agents learn the Wetu itinerary builder at their own pace and also earn some delightful certification along the way.
Ad hoc learning covers what you need today, not what you’ll need next month. New team members inherit habits rather than best practices, and many of our experienced users, some on Wetu since 2013, rarely stop to check for a faster way.
The first programme, Operator Foundations, is for anyone who builds itineraries on Wetu, whether you’re a team of one or 50. It includes five short courses: Account Fundamentals, Establishing Your Brand, Building Itineraries, Managing Suppliers, and Managing Business Operations.
Start wherever you like. Weak on branding? Establishing Your Brand covers themes, trade partner brands, and Discovery Themes. If the builder is where your afternoons disappear, Building Itineraries covers every step across 22 videos.
Each course ends with a short multiple-choice assessment. Score 80% or more to earn a badge. Didn’t make it? No need to freak out over a grade; rewatch, retry and regain your honour. Earn all five badges, complete one short final quiz, and you’re Wetu certified, with a certificate that looks very sexy on LinkedIn.
Your badges are tied to the name and email on your registration form. If you use different details when you sit an assessment, your badge won’t come through.
Each topic includes a “Try it” prompt. Play the video on one screen or a tablet and keep Wetu open on the other. Watching someone else build an itinerary is like watching someone else go to the gym…
…pleasant, but not much use to you.
Every lesson links to a matching article in Wetu’s knowledge base, which is home to hundreds of how-to guides. Even our most avid users will find something they’ve missed (we won’t tell anyone about your open-book).
Stuck on day routes or inclusion types? Every course page links directly to each topic so that you can skip straight there and back again. We’re building a reliable reference system, not a course you finish once and forget.
In the Trip Designer Wetu Labs session, “Get Wetu Certified! Operator Foundations & 5 Expert Tips”, Barbara, our Head of Customer Experience, walked through the Academy. Nearly 500 people signed up (clearly, everyone loves a certificate!).
The Academy was built by Nadine, our Customer Enablement Manager, with videos from Wynand, our Customer Success Manager, that are packed with top tips. Supplier and integrations courses are in the works, and the “Share your feedback” button on every course page helps shape what comes next.
